The Indiana Medical History Museum is participating in GivingTuesday!

At a time when we are all experiencing a global pandemic, generosity brings us all together despite our differences. Generosity gives each of us the opportunity to make positive change in our communities and across the world.

THANK YOU FOR THE MANY WAYS YOU SUPPORT IMHM!

What is GivingTuesday?

On November 30, 2021, we’ll unite for a worldwide celebration of generosity. GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and support their communities. It’s a day when everyone comes together to give back in all forms-- acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent or treasure.

Are you in?

Now more than ever the importance of preserving, understanding, and sharing medical history is clear.

Your tax-deductible gift to the Indiana Medical History museum creates the solid foundation that allows us to carry out our important mission. It is an investment that encourages curiosity, discovery, and life-long learning. And it allows us to preserve and share the broad and rich medical history of Indiana and help people connect to it in meaningful and relevant ways. TOGETHER we can accomplish great things.

Yes! Count me in!

Many of the Indiana Medical History Museum activities and projects supported by the IMHM Annual Fund. Here are just a few.

  • We offer guided tours of the Old Pathology Building and Doctor's Office. For more information or to make an appointment, click here.
  • Every year IMHM provides many engaging and informative public programs like lectures and panel discussions, movie screenings, "behind the scenes" highlights from the IMHM collection, and more.
  • The IMHM grounds also feature our ever-expanding and improving IMHM Medicinal Plant Garden as well as the recently added IMHM Prairie Patch and IMHM Native Tree Arboretum.
  • Check out digital content as new things are added to our website: bog posts, online exhibits, past recorded events, and more!
  • Last year we completed work to catalog the IMHM historic medical library collection and make it searchable online through the Indy Public Library by joining the Shared System as a library branch. Work continues to make the IMHM archival collection more accessible and opening Reading Room hours when patrons can view requested materials. Stay tuned!
  • In 20219 we unveiled a new interpretation of the IMHM specimen collection that emphasizes the humanity of the individuals represented there. Check out Rehumanizing the IMHM Specimens.
  • Work is underway to expand our Voices from Central State project and make our prototype digital archive and memory forum live! If you would like to share your stories, memories, or photos of Central State Hospital or participate in our collection of oral histories, please email us at voices@imhm.org. We'd love to hear from you!
